Stop press! Hicham’s deportation has been postponed. Having now been incarcerated for over two weeks, he has been told he will be transported to a fifth detention centre. We need to keep up the campaign. For more information and resources, see http://freehichamyezza.wordpress.com
Last week a Nottingham University student, Rizwaan Sabir, and academic, Hicham Yezza, were arrested and held without charge for six days. Their “crime”? Reading and printing off an al Qaeda training manual as part of their academic activities. Now Hicham Yezza faces deportation this Sunday!
For more information on the case, see here.
Hicham is due to be removed this Sunday, 1 June, at 9.45am on flight BA894 from Heathrow to Algiers. Last Sunday campaigners in Nottingham mobilised a demo of 500 students, academics and others in his defence (pictures and report soon). For a report by Nottingham UCU activist Pete Radcliff, see the Workers’ Liberty website.
